Katrina is the founder of Coastal Accounting, established in 2010 after recognising that small business owners in Northland needed an accountant who truly understood their world. From day one, her focus has been on building practical, down-to-earth relationships with clients who value clear advice and real support.

With a passion for new business owners and those in the trades and construction industries, Katrina brings real-life experience to the table. Working alongside her husband in their business, Whangarei Construction, while raising two children and leading Coastal Accounting has given her valuable insight into the realities of running a business. She understands the pressures, decisions, and juggling act, translating complex accounting into plain English her clients can confidently act on.

Outside the office, Katrina enjoys keeping active, fishing, and travelling. That same energy carries through to her work, where she is deeply committed to helping her clients succeed. Approachable, practical, and genuinely invested, Katrina is the kind of accountant who stands alongside you, not just behind a desk.

Linelle joined forces with Katrina in 2011, where she quickly found her niche in client education. As an approachable accountant who genuinely enjoys working with people, she is passionate about supporting clients and explaining things in real, easy-to-understand language that makes accounting feel simple and accessible.

Linelle spends much of her time working one-on-one with clients to help them make the most of their software, sharing practical tips and tricks along the way. She believes educating clients so they truly understand what’s happening in their business is incredibly important, helping them gain the knowledge and confidence to feel empowered and in control.

Bringing enthusiasm, charisma, and plenty of positive energy to the office, Linelle is known for helping clients feel completely at ease. She loves working alongside the Coastal team and celebrating shared successes. Outside of work, Linelle enjoys socialising and making memories with friends and family, travelling, and is always keen for a new adventure.

Nicky loves working alongside her clients to make the day-to-day side of running a business that little bit easier. She has a strong passion for supporting small to medium businesses and not-for-profits, with plenty of hands-on experience in Xero, cloud accounting, and tax.
She also enjoys advisory work — helping clients make confident, informed decisions and finding practical solutions that work for their business. Nicky’s always happy to help keep things running smoothly and up to date.

Outside of work, she’s busy with her kids’ sports, spending plenty of time at hockey and rugby. When she’s not on the sidelines, she loves relaxing at the beach with her family.

Sam joined our team in April 2018 and has been a valued part of Coastals ever since.

Sam is passionate about working alongside clients, not just for them. She especially enjoys preparing quarterly management accounts and helping business owners understand what their numbers really mean. For her, it’s about turning reports into clear, practical insights, giving clients confidence around performance, cashflow, and tax, and supporting them to make smart decisions that move their business forward. 

She’s known for her approachable nature and team mindset and is often the go-to for process questions and keeping things flowing smoothly.

She goes beyond compliance, helping clients truly understand their numbers, strengthen cashflow, and keep their tax under control. Kerry believes that when business owners have clarity and confidence around their finances, they’re in a far better position to grow and succeed.

Passionate about building strong, lasting relationships, Kerry takes pride in supporting her clients to achieve their goals at every stage of their journey.

Outside of work, you’ll find her fishing or spending quality time with her family - making the most of the great outdoors whenever she can.

Kim joined Coastal Accounting in 2013 and has been a valued part of our team ever since. In the office Kim has a growing passion for investment portfolio taxation. She loves diving into the details and learning more every day. Known for her positive, can-do attitude, Kim is personable and enjoys building genuine connections with clients.

Outside of work, Kim is a married mum of two energetic school-aged kids. She spends much of her time driving them to sports, cheering from the sidelines, or joining in whenever she can. She also keeps active with her group of mum friends at the gym and never says no to a post-workout coffee

Tracy had over 20 years accounting experience, before joining Coastal in August 2019 bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and practical expertise. She specialises in farming and small business accounting, and has built strong, lasting relationships with her clients over the years. 

When she’s not preparing financial statements or supporting her clients, Tracy enjoys spending time with friends and family, or heading out to her happy place, the local running trails.

Emma joined the Coastal Accounting team in September 2017, beginning her journey with us as Administration Support and the friendly face greeting clients at our front desk. Since completing her Accounting studies, she has stepped confidently into her role within our Accounting Team, bringing with her the same warmth, dedication, and positive energy.

Emma is passionate about helping clients get things right. She loves making tax feel less overwhelming and takes pride in helping people clearly understand their obligations. For Emma, it’s all about creating clarity, easing stress, and making the process as smooth as possible.

In the office, Emma keeps the team entertained with the occasional radio karaoke session, and outside of work she enjoys spending time with family and friends. She’s also a loyal Warriors supporter - a proud fan through and through. Next year’s our year!

We’re lucky to have Emma on the Coastal team, keeping things calm, clear, and compliant for our clients.

Ellis joined Coastal Accounting in early 2025 as our receptionist and is often the first friendly face our clients meet. She enjoys the variety her role brings, from managing day-to-day tasks to building positive connections with clients, and plays a key role in supporting smooth client onboarding.

Ellis is known for her approachable manner, strong communication skills, and genuine empathy. She prides herself on providing welcoming, understanding, and attentive client service, while remaining adaptable and patient in a fast-paced environment. Hazel

Hazel became part of Coastal Accounting in early 2017 after meeting with Linelle and Katrina over cocktails, where they decided to join forces and she became a director. 

Hazel had a real passion for business development and consulting. She believed business owners deserved to truly understand their numbers - not just where their business is today, but where it’s heading in the future.

Hazel meant the world to our team. She was strong, fearless, supportive, and never afraid to speak her mind. Her energy, leadership, and determination helped shape the culture of Coastal Accounting, and she inspired everyone around her. Whether she was leading a conversation, supporting a client, or rocking her signature high heels in the office, Hazel brought confidence, strength, and authenticity to everything she did.

Hazel will always be remembered as more than a leader - she was a friend, and an unforgettable part of the Coastal story.
